Ubisoft have announced they will be sponsoring Katy Perry’s forthcoming “California Dreams” UK tour, which starts next month, on behalf of their upcoming title Just Dance 3. Concert-goers will enjoy the opportunity to play the game before her performances at each of her UK shows and watch a video of the singer playing the game herself.
As an added bonus, fans who record a video of themselves and their friends dancing to the Just Dance version of Katy Perry’s song “Firework” also have a chance of winning backstage tickets to a concert of their choice, during which they’ll meet the pop idol herself. The contest, called “Just Dance Your Way to Katy Perry”, can be entered through the game’s Facebook page here.
This isn’t the start of Just Dance’s advertising partnership with Katy Perry; she was also sighted playing the game in one of her recent music videos, pictured above, which Ubisoft boasts has been viewed on YouTube over seventy-two million times. A dubious quote from Perry herself claims: “I’m a fan of Just Dance 3, and I’m glad it brings people together to dance, just like I get to do on my tour.”
Mark Slaughter, head of marketing at Ubisoft is proud of the partnership, calling it “a landmark sponsorship for Just Dance, [demonstrating] how this game has transcended its platform to become a hugely popular entertainment brand in the UK”. He also emphasised the connection with Katy Perry, with her songs being included in both previous games.
Just Dance 3 is currently scheduled for release on Kinect for Xbox 360, Move for PlayStation 3, and the Wii on October 11th. You can read more about the game on zConnection here. The California Dreams tour begins in Sheffield on October 12th and runs throughout the UK and Ireland until November.
