As the PlayStation Network crisis grows, Sony have scrambled to resolve the issue and return the service, but so far assurances that limited services would be returning this week have gone unfulfilled. Spokesperson Shigenori Yoshida, speaking to Bloomberg, said the company is trying to adopt an improved security system and restart the service by May 31st.

Nick Caplin, head of communications in the European division of Sony Computer Entertainment, said that “we’ve begun the process of restoring the service through internal testing of the new system” in the latest update from the PlayStation blog, and attributed the delays in returning service due to being “unaware of the extent of the attack on Sony Online Entertainment servers”.
