The lead designer of EA’s new SimCity, slated for launch next month, interviews the creator of the original SimCity in a new video feature released by the publisher. Stone Librande asks Will Wright, described by EA as a “videogame luminary”, about how he builds his cities, and what he thinks of the new game, which is the first instalment in the city-building franchise since SimCity Societies’s release in 2007.
The new game boasts “an unprecedented depth of simulation” by virtue of the new GlassBox Engine, as well as a multiplayer mode which allows players to collaborate or compete to earn achievements. The game also features a live service which “simulates real-time updates and pushes them to players in the form of new challenges and achievements”, as well as allowing players to “track their progression alongside their friends and the world for the most polluted city, the richest city and more”.
SimCity is slated for launch on Windows and Mac on the 8th of March.
