Heads are being turned towards the Ubuntu Developer Summit as some keen-eyed folk have noted massive game publisher Electronic Arts have a session on May 7th, despite not supporting Linux as a platform for any of their major projects. Whether the meeting will be fairly inconclusive, or whether it will see a major game announcement, remains to be seen.
To add some more mystery, Phoronix’s Michael Larabel, who broke the news about Steam for Linux, has tweeted saying that Ubuntu will soon have “some other Linux gaming news” from “a big publisher”. EA fit the bill – but what might they bring? We probably won’t know until after the summit, which will be held at the Oaklan Marriott City Centre in Oakland, California.
The summit will be held from the 7th to 11th of May, and is attended by “Canonical engineers, community members, partners, upstream representatives and cloud specialists”. You can find out more about the summit and EA’s session here.
