The departure of Amy Pond and Rory Williams in seminal sci-fi “Doctor Who” will come in the seventh series’ fifth episode, which will be the last this year before the Christmas special and set in New York, executive producer Caroline Skinner confirmed today at the official Doctor Who Convention in Cardiff’s iconic Millennium Centre.

The fifth episode, of which the script allegedly brought Karen Gillan to tears, is set to film sometime soon on location in New York and will once again feature the Weeping Angels, who will be “meaner than ever”. By the next episode, viewers will meet the new companion, currently only known to be played by Jenna-Louise Coleman.
