A mobile game based on Irish horror-comedy Grabbers is set for release on Android on December 17th and iOS by December 30th, Iglu Media and BillyGoat Entertainment have announced. The game’s launch is set to accompany that of the film in the UK: after appearing at the Edinburgh International Film Festival and earning four stars in our review, Grabbers will début publicly on DVD and Blu-ray on December 31st.

The game is set in Erin Island’s lone pub and sees players play as one of the three main characters from the film – Lisa, Ciáran, and Adam – and kill as many grabbers as possible in sixty seconds. Iglu and BillyGoat are both based in Belfast and built the game using Unity in only seven weeks, with the assistance of the film’s producers in providing digital assets.

On the subject of bringing the game to other platforms, such as the BlackBerry PlayBook, a representative from Iglu said: “At the moment we are not looking at that, however, we are keeping an open mind and in the new year, we will look at the potential of porting. If folks want it, we will certainly look into it.”
