While Prometheus actor Emun Elliott was originally attached to upcoming Scottish rom-com Not Another Happy Ending, that role now belongs to French actor Stanley Weber, director John McKay confirmed in our interview earlier today. Elliott fell victim to “a kind of double-booking”, putting the filmmakers once more on the hunt for a new co-lead to play the role of Tom.
“It’s odd; I never though I’d be casting a French guy in this role, but now that I know that it’s Stanley, I can’t think of anyone else,” said McKay. “He’s so much the part of the charming, troublesome, slightly conniving, slightly loveable rogue that is Tom. He’s just essential casting for him, and he’s pretty charming and funny around Karen, which is good.”
The film, which also stars Doctor Who’s Karen Gillan and is set to shoot in mid-July, is still campaigning for funds on crowdfunding website Indiegogo, where they have 41 hours remaining to make their goal of $50,000. You can make a contribution on the campaign page here. Our full interview with John McKay will go live later today.
