New Girl, the hit US comedy starring Zooey Deschanel, is set to air in the United Kingdom for the first time on January 6th, but it appears its pilot episode is already available to watch on 4oD, Channel 4’s video on demand service.

Whether its early release is unintentional, or part of the “watch new shows before broadcast” perk for registered members is unclear, but any UK resident can now log in with either a free 4oD account, or their Facebook account, and watch the pilot episode here.

The episode will apparently expire on January 6th, which points at it being a possible mistake, but it’s also possible its limited availability is due to licensing issues, or will be changed post-airing. The episode itself will air on Channel 4 on Friday, January 6th, at 8:30 PM.

It was also announced a week ago the show’s UK airing would be sponsored by perfume company Nina Ricci. The deal apparently involves “on-screen sponsorship” both during its terrestrial broadcast and on 4oD. More on that can be found here.
