Immense indie hit Minecraft will become available for download from Xbox LIVE today as part of Microsoft’s “Arcade NEXT” promotion, nearly three years after the alpha version first became available on PC. Minecraft was on sale throughout its development process, with purchasers promised updates for life – but the Xbox 360 version is fully-fledged.
While the port, which has been developed by Dundee-based 4J Studios, doesn’t quite contain all the features of the latest PC version, it does add in a tutorial and some improved matchmaking features to smooth out the console transition. There’s also the promise of updates on the way to match the PC version of the game.
Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition will retail for 1600 Microsoft Points and has a PEGI age certificate of 7 and above. You can find out more about the game on the official Xbox Marketplace website here.
