Cthulhu might be coming to wreak havoc when the stars are right, but it seems the opposite is true in Magicka: The Stars Are Left, the latest piece of downloadable content for the Swedish action-adventure game which makes a mockery of Lovecraft’s most horrifying creations. It’s the first new adventure campaign since the game’s launch, several levels long, and also introduces two new bosses, two new robes, two new challenge maps, five new achievements, seven new enemies, and new Magicks and items.
Surprisingly, Paradox have also announced that players who don’t own the DLC will still be able to play the adventure in co-op, so long as the game host owns it. This is true of both the adventure itself and its included challenge maps, although the robes are unlocked only for those who have purchased the content. A price point has not yet been announced, but given Magicka’s past history with these things, and the low price of the main game itself, it should be less than seven pounds.
Allegedly, the downloadable content makes a mockery of Minecraft too, but Paradox haven’t elaborated on that front; you’ll have to wait and see how Notch’s block builder gets roasted. The Stars Are Left is scheduled for launch some time this Winter.
