Karen Gillan has revealed that she will appear in Charlie Brooker’s police parody A Touch of Cloth next year. The comedy series, which consists of self-contained stories presented in two parts each, will begin to air on Sky1 later this month. Gillan appears in the third story arc, which will air sometime in 2013, and on which shooting will soon start.
The actress confirmed the role during the première of Doctor Who’s seventh season in London last night, but would not reveal any details about her character, who will appear alongside series stars John Hannah and Suranne Jones. Her Doctor Who character is set to leave the show before Christmas to be replaced by former Eastenders actress Jenna-Louise Coleman.
Gillan has also shot a feature-length romantic comedy this year, called Not Another Happy Ending. The crowdfunded film wrapped earlier this month and will likely be released between the last quarter of this year or the second quarter of next year. We interviewed the director, John McKay, a few months ago in an article available here.
