The trailer for Warner Bros.’ Gangster Squad has been pulled from cinemas across the United States in response to the shooting in Aurora, Denver at a midnight screening of The Dark Knight Rises. The trailer features a sequence in which a gunman opens fire in a cinema and kills members of the audience – echoing the Aurora shooting.

The noir drama is set for a September 7th release in the States, and was being advertised before certain screenings of The Dark Knight Rises, but according to TheWrap, it wasn’t shown in advance of the Aurora screening. It’s not yet clear whether the trailer will be re-cut.
