Square Enix today dated the North American release of Final Fantasy XIII-2. The game will be released simultaneously on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 on January 31st, little less than two years after the release of its predecessor, Final Fantasy XIII. A European release date has not yet been confirmed, but is expected to follow shortly.

Update: The European release date has been confirmed as February 3rd.

Downloadable content would also become available shortly after the game’s launch, but it has not been detailed beyond that; an announcement is expected at some point in the future, probably closer to the game’s launch. The English language theme song was also mentioned, titled “New World” and sung by Filipina singer Charice Pempengco.
