Paradox Interactive today announced “Sword of Islam”, an upcoming piece of downloadable content for the grand strategy Crusader Kings II which will add the ability to play as Muslim rulers, delivering “a wealth of specific new mechanics distinctive to these rulers”. Currently, players can only control Catholic rulers in the game.
Muslim countries will have entirely different systems of law, marriage, holdings, traits, and titles than Catholics. The DLC will be released simultaneously with a patch introducing new features and an expansion of the map into Mali-Songhay, plus differentiation on strong and weak claims to counties, new plots, and “expanded combat”.
Sword of Islam and patch 1.0 are slated for launch on PC and Mac in June 2012, with the DLC set to retail for $9.99 USD. You can check out some screenshots from Sword of Islam by clicking on the thumbnails below.
