Gearbox Software demonstrated Borderlands 2 running on a Tegra 3-powered Android tablet at the PDXLAN 19 last week, according to a report from Legit Reviews, who say that attendees were originally anticipating a demonstration of the Kepler GPU. However, user “Qwe” of Legit Reviews contested the report in the comments sectio, stating that “Borderlands 2 does not run on a tablet. They were just showing the new BL2 trailer,” but without citing a source or evidence. We’ve heard no other input.

An Android version of Borderlands has not been formally announced, with the game only confirmed for a PC, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3 launch this year, but it’s not completely out of the question if the hardware is suitable. Releasing a console-grade game on Android Market could pose a few problems, though, notably with file size, licensing of middle-ware, and compatibility. If an Android launch is confirmed for the game though, it’d be a huge step forward for the platform.

You can find the blog post in question on Legit Reviews here, and you can read more about Borderlands 2 on our dedicated page here, or the game’s official website here.

Update: report has been confirmed false by a PDXLAN 19 event organiser. All Gearbox showed at the event was a “bad-ass trailer”. Find out more in this article.
