The Blender Foundation’s open source short film, “Big Buck Bunny”, will see a release in stereoscopic 3D on Nintendo Video in three instalments, the first of which will become available in Europe on 2nd May, Nintendo have announced. The film follows the adventures of the eponymous rabbit as he seeks revenge on a trio of mischievous woodland creatures.
The stereoscopic 3D version of the short film, which was first released online in 2008, is being created by Studio Lumikuu in Finland, in co-operation with the Blender Foundation. Blender Foundation chairman Ton Roosendaal added, “As a Nintendo and Zelda fan, I’m thrilled to see our work come to life on the Nintendo 3DS.”
