Blizzard Talk About StarCraft 2: Heart of the Swarm

MTV Multiplayer’s Russ Frushtick, whose surname reminds me of the German word for breakfast, spoke with Executive Vice President of Game Design at Blizzard, Rob Pardo, and learnt some tantalising new details about the upcoming instalment in the StarCraft 2 trilogy.
We now know that each of the instalments are standalone games; in other words, you won’t need Wings of Liberty to play Heart of the Swarm or Legacy of the Void. The multiplayer mode will feel mostly the same, with the exception of a couple changes and additions, but the single-player campaigns will be wildly different and will “feel true to the race”.
Unfortunately, Pardo didn’t give a release date, saying that hardcore art and programming was only just beginning, and so he didn’t feel he could give an estimate. I’d suggest a Christmas 2011 release is possible, but things could be delayed because of Diablo III’s planned release. Besides, is anyone really tired of Wings of Liberty already?
