zC’s 100 Games To Play Before You Die: Pt. 19
Written by Connor Beaton, published 14th May 2009
Welcome to the nineteenth part of zConnection’s 100 Games To Play Before You Die, where we will be giving you a low-down of the 100 games (in no particular order) that any self-respecting gamer must play before their personal “Game Over”. From Asteroids to Half-Life, Bust-A-Move to The Longest Journey, expect to see a few familiar faces… and a few unfamiliar ones.

These days, Metal Gear is probably most associated with the PlayStation hits Metal Gear Solid III: Snake Eater and the sequel Sons of the Patriots. Indeed, Metal Gear Solid has seemingly always been largely on PlayStation platforms, even beginning on the PlayStation, the first game being released in 1998. The franchise has now expanded into an award-winning series with thousands of fans worldwide.
Metal Gear Solid has almost always been about - as later games blatantly advertised - tactical stealth and espionage. Taking control of legendary infiltrator Solid Snake, players must neutralise a terrorist threat on Shadow Moses Island in 2005. Truly pushing the capabilities of the PlayStation, it was a milestone in PlayStation games and in action games.
Of course, looking retrospectively, we’d recommend the GameCube remake Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes over the original, mainly due to improved gameplay mechanics and graphics that make the game much more fun and exciting. On that note, we conclude the nineteenth part of our article. Don’t forget to check back tomorrow for our part 20 milestone!
